Non-resident sellers

Selling into Australia from overseas? Get registered right — and get your border GST back.

ABN and GST registration for offshore businesses, handled end-to-end: the paperwork, the identity checks, the ATO. Most sellers don’t need an Australian company, and registering won’t make your worldwide income taxable here. We’ll tell you plainly what applies — in English or Mandarin.

Sound familiar?

The problems we solve every week.

The identity-check maze

Non-resident registrations fail on proof-of-identity requirements more than anything else. We know exactly what the ATO accepts from overseas applicants and prepare it right the first time.

Paying GST you could recover

The 10% GST charged on your stock at the border is recoverable — but only under the right kind of registration. Simplified GST doesn’t do it.

Myths from seller groups

“You must open an Australian company.” “Registration makes all your income taxable in Australia.” Both are usually wrong — and both scare sellers into bad decisions.

Time zones and language

Common questions

Asked by non-resident sellers, answered plainly.

Do I need to register for GST as a non-resident seller?

If your Australian GST turnover reaches A$75,000 over 12 months, you may be required to register. Warehousing stock in Australia (for example in FBA) generally makes those sales count toward the threshold.

Do I need an Australian company?

Usually not. Most non-resident sellers operate through their existing overseas entity with an ABN and GST registration. A local company only makes sense in specific situations — we’ll tell you honestly if yours is one.

Will registering make my worldwide income taxable in Australia?

No — GST registration is about Australian sales. Australian income tax is a separate question that depends on residency and where your business is run from, and for most offshore sellers the answer is reassuring. We’ll confirm your position before you register.
